WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Baptism is a sign of the new life that is yours in Jesus Christ.

DO I NEED TO BE BAPTIZED?

Jesus commanded his first followers to baptize everyone who put their faith in him. (Matt. 28:19) Throughout the New Testament we see that all new believers were baptized (Acts 2:41) and for all believers since then, baptism has marked the beginning of their new life in Jesus.

WHAT DOES BAPTISM MEAN?

Romans 6:4 says we are “buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” That means your past isn’t just in the past; to God your past doesn’t matter at all, He chooses to no longer remember your sins or hold them against you. The old life is over and a new life has begun. The resurrected and righteous life of Jesus is alive in and through you.

Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Baptism is a picture of this reality. Baptism is not salvation, but it is an outward and visible expression of an inward and spiritual reality. Baptism is an important and meaningful celebration that you have been born into God’s family and received the life of Christ by trusting what Jesus has done for you.
